A natal chart (also called a birth chart) is a map of where all the planets were positioned at the exact moment of your birth. It's like a cosmic snapshot of the sky, calculated from your birth location.
Your natal chart includes:
- Sun sign: Your core identity and ego
- Moon sign: Your emotional nature and inner world
- Rising sign (Ascendant): How others perceive you
- Planetary positions: Where each planet was located in the zodiac
- House placements: Which life areas each planet influences
- Aspects: Angular relationships between planets
The natal chart is considered a blueprint of your personality, strengths, challenges, and life path in astrology.
A transit refers to the current position of a planet as it moves through the zodiac and forms aspects (angular relationships) to the planets in your natal chart.
Transits are used to understand:
- Current planetary influences on your life
- Timing for important decisions or events
- Personal growth cycles and opportunities
- Challenges and lessons you may encounter
For example, when Jupiter transits your Sun, it often brings opportunities for growth and expansion in areas related to your core identity.
Aurathea's transit analysis feature (available to Basic tier subscribers and above) tracks these planetary movements and provides personalized insights based on your natal chart.
An aspect is a specific angular relationship between two planets, measured in degrees along the zodiac circle. Different angles create different types of energy and influence.
Major aspects include:
- Conjunction (0 degrees): Planets unite their energies, intensifying their combined effect
- Opposition (180 degrees): Planets face each other, creating tension that seeks balance
- Trine (120 degrees): Harmonious flow of energy between planets
- Square (90 degrees): Dynamic tension that motivates action and growth
- Sextile (60 degrees): Opportunities and supportive connections
Aspects in your natal chart reveal how different parts of your personality interact. Transit aspects show how current planetary energies are affecting you.

No auto-renewal. When the 30 days end, your account returns to the free tier — no charge unless you actively choose to subscribe.
All paid tiers include full planetary interpretations, saved chart history, and the Famous Charts Library. Annual subscriptions save approximately 17% versus monthly.
You can cancel anytime from your account settings:
- Log in to your account
- Go to Settings
- In the Subscription & Billing section, click Manage Subscription
- Stripe's billing portal opens in a new tab — cancel there
When you cancel:
- You keep full access to your current tier through the end of the period you've already paid for. No early cutoff and no cancellation fee.
- After that, your account stays. Your charts and saved interpretations don't disappear — you simply return to the free tier.
- If your circumstances change, you can resubscribe any time and pick up where you left off.
Canceling is not the same as a refund. Cancellation stops future charges; it doesn't refund money you've already paid. If you'd also like a refund of your most recent payment, see "How do I get a refund?" below.
If you'd rather pause your subscription or downgrade to a smaller tier instead of canceling, write to support@aurathea.com — we'll handle it for you.
First 7 days from the date of purchase, no questions asked. Email us at support@aurathea.com from the email address on your account, tell us you'd like a refund, and we'll process it. This applies to all subscription tiers and the Trial Report.
After 7 days, refunds are handled case-by-case in good faith. Tell us what happened. For subscription cancellations specifically: after the 7-day window you typically keep access through the end of the period you've paid for, but a pro-rata refund of unused time isn't standard. If circumstances are unusual, write to us — we'll find something fair.
Processing time: we aim to respond to refund requests within 2 business days. Once we issue a refund, your bank takes another 5–10 business days to land it on your card. We don't control that part.
EU and UK customers: you have statutory cooling-off rights on digital purchases (typically 14 days under the EU Consumer Rights Directive Article 9 / UK Consumer Rights Act s28) that may apply. The 7-day window above is our voluntary policy and doesn't reduce any statutory right you may have.
Tones change how an interpretation is told, not what it says. Same chart, same astrological observation — different voice. We offer nine.
- Modern — Direct, contemporary language. Plain and current.
- Practical — Grounded, action-oriented, focused on lived application.
- Classical — Traditional astrological framing, terminology rooted in the tradition's history.
- Mythic — Archetypal voice; uses imagery from myth and story.
- Therapeutic — Psychological lens; frames patterns in terms of integration and growth.
- Empowering — Emphasizes agency and choice. Frames everything as possibility.
- Transformational — Depth psychology and shadow work — for slower, harder self-inquiry.
- Poetic — Image, rhythm, evocation. Reads more like literature than analysis.
- Strategic — Pattern-recognition and decision-framing. Clear-eyed and analytical.
Tier access: Free and Basic include Modern and Practical. Studio adds Classical, Mythic, Therapeutic, and Empowering (6 total). Astrologer includes all nine.
Try them — they read very differently even on the same placement. Most people find one or two that fit their ear and stay there.
House systems are different mathematical methods for dividing the sky into the twelve houses of a chart. They produce different placements for things sitting near house cusps — sometimes meaningfully different.
If you don't already use a specific house system, stick with Placidus, our default. It's the most widely used system in modern Western astrology and what most contemporary books and astrologers assume.
If you do have a preference, we offer 15 systems at the Astrologer tier: Placidus, Whole Sign, Koch, Equal House, Topocentric, Porphyry, Regiomontanus, Campanus, Equal Ascendant, Morinus, Alcabitius, Krusinski, Vehlow Equal, Meridian, and Azimuthal. Studio includes 6 (Placidus, Whole Sign, Koch, Equal House, Topocentric, Porphyry). Free and Basic include 2 — Placidus and Whole Sign — which together cover the modern and the oldest tradition.
Short version of the debate. Placidus is time-based: it divides space by where a planet has been on its arc since rising or culminating. Whole Sign is the oldest system, used in Hellenistic astrology, where each sign is exactly one house. Different systems suit different traditions and questions. None is "right" or "wrong" — they're different lenses on the same sky.
The Trial Report is a one-time purchase — $15.99 in the United States, less in many countries through our purchasing-power adjustment. It includes:
- A full Basic-tier chart report you can download as a PDF
- 30 days of Basic-tier access on your account, starting from purchase
There is no auto-renewal. When the 30 days end, your account returns to the free tier. No charge, no surprise renewal, nothing happens unless you actively choose to subscribe.
Before the 30 days end, we'll send you a reminder so you know what's coming and can choose whether to subscribe. If you don't subscribe, that's fine — your saved charts and interpretations stay with you on the free tier. The Trial Report PDF is yours to keep regardless.
The Trial Report is for people who want to experience the depth of a real Basic chart report without committing to a recurring subscription. If it's a fit, you'll know in 30 days. If it isn't, you've spent $15.99, you have a real chart to keep, and you owe us nothing further.
(Refundable within 7 days of purchase per our refund policy — see "How do I get a refund?" above.)

Your Sun sign is determined by which zodiac sign the Sun was in at your birth. However, your complete chart includes the Moon, Rising sign, and all planets in various signs.
The 12 houses represent different areas of life in your birth chart:
- 1st House (Ascendant): Self, identity, physical appearance, first impressions
- 2nd House: Money, possessions, values, self-worth
- 3rd House: Communication, siblings, short trips, learning
- 4th House (IC): Home, family, roots, emotional foundation
- 5th House: Creativity, romance, children, pleasure, self-expression
- 6th House: Health, daily routines, work, service
- 7th House (Descendant): Partnerships, marriage, one-on-one relationships
- 8th House: Transformation, shared resources, intimacy, death/rebirth
- 9th House: Higher education, travel, philosophy, beliefs
- 10th House (Midheaven/MC): Career, public image, reputation, life goals
- 11th House: Friends, groups, hopes, humanitarian causes
- 12th House: Subconscious, spirituality, hidden matters, endings
The planets in each house show where you focus energy in those life areas.
Each planet in astrology represents different aspects of personality and life:
Personal Planets (fast-moving, individual influence):
- Sun: Core identity, ego, vitality, life purpose
- Moon: Emotions, instincts, nurturing, the mother
- Mercury: Communication, thinking, learning, short journeys
- Venus: Love, beauty, values, attraction, pleasure
- Mars: Action, drive, aggression, passion, courage
Social Planets (generational with personal impact):
- Jupiter: Expansion, luck, wisdom, growth, abundance
- Saturn: Structure, discipline, responsibility, limitations, lessons
Outer Planets (generational, collective influence):
- Uranus: Innovation, rebellion, sudden change, individuality
- Neptune: Dreams, intuition, spirituality, illusion, creativity
- Pluto: Transformation, power, death/rebirth, the unconscious
The sign and house placement of each planet shows HOW and WHERE that energy expresses in your life.
These three signs form the core of your astrological identity:
Sun Sign:
- Represents your core self, ego, and life purpose
- The sign the Sun was in at your birth
- Answers: "Who am I at my core?"
- Most commonly known (your "zodiac sign")
Moon Sign:
- Represents your emotional nature and inner world
- The sign the Moon was in at your birth
- Answers: "How do I feel and process emotions?"
- Often more visible in private or intimate settings
Rising Sign (Ascendant):
- Represents how others see you and your outward style
- The sign rising on the eastern horizon at your birth
- Answers: "What first impression do I make?"
- Requires accurate birth time to calculate
Together, these three signs give a much more complete picture than Sun sign alone. For example, you might be a Leo Sun (confident core), Pisces Moon (sensitive emotions), and Virgo Rising (practical presentation).
Your birth time is crucial for accurate chart calculation because:
It determines your Rising Sign (Ascendant):
- The Rising sign changes approximately every 2 hours
- It sets up your entire house system
- Without it, about 1/3 of your chart is unknown
It positions the houses accurately:
- Houses represent life areas (career, relationships, etc.)
- Planet house placements change throughout the day
- Wrong time = wrong house placements
It affects planetary aspects:
- The Moon moves about 12-14 degrees per day
- Precise aspects depend on exact positions
Where to find your birth time:
- Birth certificate (most reliable)
- Hospital records
- Baby book or family records
- Ask parents or relatives
If you truly cannot find your birth time, a chart can still be cast for noon, but Rising sign and house positions will be approximate or excluded.
